Coperfam was created to provide differentiated services to orange small family farmers in the region around Bebedouro, palced in the Brazilian citrus belt (São Paulo state).
At the time of the cooperative creation, the citrus sector faced a deep crisis due to low prices of the fruit in the market, high production costs and the high incidence of pests. Numerous hectares of orange crop were eradicated and abandoned at the time. The family farmers were heavily affected.

Our Mission is to offer differentiated products that bring quality to customers and quality of life to the farmers who produces.
Our cooperative aims to facilitate access to new agricultural technologies to our members keeping the balance between Sustainable Agricultural Practices and Environment Protection. We contribute to close the Living Income Gap from our members offering technical support advisory, access to equipment and machinery at low or zero cost, to decrease their cost of production and strengthening partnership with our buyer and with government and private institutions.

Since 2018, we have participated in projects aiming increasing the rural families and workers weelbeing. In annually bases, we develop work plans to target this objective. Our action plan includes training, awareness, guidance and advisor to our members to better monitor the process of hiring labor, know and respect the rights of workers and prevent discrimination.
To reaffirm our commitment with the protection and promotion of human rights, the inclusion of women and youth, we created a Protection and Inclusion Policy that is in the way to be approved by our members. We are also commited to support family succession.
COPERFAM, with the support of CLAC and following the guidelines of Fairtrade certification, adopts actions, measures and promotes projects that teach, guide and develop producers´ capacities and families, workers and the community wellbeing.
The objective is to keep these producers and all those involved in production in the field, with financial support, technical assistance, access to innovations and technologies available in agriculture, making the production process economically viable, reducing costs, increasing their income and/or maintaining a decent income with sustainable practices in accordance with the SDGs.
In 2022, COPERFAM invested 48% of the Fairtrade premium, received from the sales of the certified orange, in actions oriented to the cooperative and permanent a nd seasonal workers well-being; 25% in infrastructure improvement and administration; 18% in bonus for producers to increase income and investment in the implementation of good agricultural practices, including technical assistance and efficient use of external inputs and 9% in actions aiming enhance young people and women inclusion, climate monitoring and mitigation and basic sanitation.
